Explore Medieval Lincoln
Lincoln is a treasure trove of history with fascinating heritage, characters and stories spanning over 2000 years. Whilst the city is not the largest by any accounts today, Lincoln has been lucky enough to be a significant part of English history throughout several different historical periods. The city is littered with Roman remains, Medieval wonders, Tudor timber frame and Victorian architecture; and as those of you who have been on one of our award-winning walking tours will know, it is a fascinating place!
Brand New Tour
Following the creation of our first free walking tours in September 2021; we have continued to launch new ‘spin off’ tours with the intention of widening the experiences we offer, but also focusing in on those really interesting bits of Lincoln’s history. As a result, we have created dedicated free tours including the Roman Lincoln Walking Tour and our Industry & Innovation Walking Tour.
These tours are very popular, and we are always so pleased to see guests return to try out another of our tours. With this in mind, we set our sights on another of Lincoln’s ‘best bits’ in the form of the Medieval period. The Medieval period in Lincoln is the perfect topic for a walking tour. We are therefore delighted to announce the launch of our new Medieval Lincoln Walking Tour.
The tour will be a free tour like many of our other tours; our guides will ask you to consider leaving a tip based on your experience. See our recent blog post with a guide to tipping on a free tour if you are new to the concept.
What will the Tour Include?
The tour will focus on Lincoln’s history from the Norman Conquest to the Reformation, and everything in between.

How Can I Book?
Our first Medieval Lincoln Walking Tour will take place on Sunday 27th April and Sunday 25th May from 10am. You can book online via our website for free. The tour will begin outside the West Gate of Lincoln Castle (close to the Victoria pub) and will last approximately 2.5 hours. Places are limited so we advise people to book in advance.
We will be running this tour once a month on a Sunday morning; with further dates to follow. We have already seen a good uptake for these tours, so we may increase the frequency of these as the tours progress over the summer. We can also offer this tour as a tour for private group bookings.
We are so excited to begin these tours and to enrich the variety of experiences we have on offer. For now, we are hard at work researching and memorising ready to show you all around at the end of April!
